Role Overview
We are seeking a People Operations Manager to foster a supportive, inclusive, and thriving community for our open-source contributors. As the People Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing contributor relations, improving onboarding and support processes, and building an engaging environment that encourages participation and retention. This role is ideal for individuals with strong interpersonal skills who are passionate about supporting contributors and driving community engagement within the open-source ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement and Support: Actively engage with contributors to understand their needs, address any concerns, and create a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Onboarding and Integration: Develop and implement onboarding processes to help new contributors acclimate, understand project goals, and integrate seamlessly into the community.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate and resolve conflicts as needed, fostering respectful and productive interactions within the community.
- Recognition and Retention Initiatives: Design and implement recognition programs to celebrate contributors’ achievements and boost morale, fostering a strong sense of community and contributor retention.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Promote diversity and inclusivity within the community, ensuring diverse perspectives are represented and all contributors feel valued.
- Documentation and Communication: Maintain clear communication channels, regularly update community guidelines, and ensure documentation is comprehensive to support ongoing engagement and transparency.
Requirements
- Experience in People Operations or Community Management: Background in people operations, community engagement, HR, or a similar role, ideally within an open-source or volunteer-driven context.
- Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities with a focus on empathy, listening, and fostering positive community interactions.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage onboarding processes, document guidelines, and oversee retention initiatives efficiently.
- Conflict Resolution Abilities: Skilled in mediating conflicts, promoting constructive dialogue, and maintaining a harmonious environment.
- Passion for Open Source and Community Building: Understanding of open-source values, with a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity.
- Self-Motivation and Flexibility: Comfortable working independently in a remote, flexible, and volunteer-based environment.
Additional Information
- Commitment: Part-time, unpaid open-source contribution role with flexible scheduling.
- Duration: 1-6 months, remote work setup.
