Role Overview
We are seeking a Grant and Funding Manager to secure funding opportunities that support the growth and sustainability of our open-source projects. In this role, you’ll identify grants, sponsorships, and other funding avenues, develop compelling proposals, and foster relationships with donors and sponsors. This position is ideal for someone experienced in grant writing, financial management, and community engagement, who is passionate about supporting the financial sustainability of open-source projects in the AI and education sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify Funding Opportunities: Research and pinpoint grants, sponsorships, and other funding options that align with Reality AI Lab's mission and objectives. Stay updated on funding trends relevant to open-source and educational initiatives.
- Grant Proposal Development: Write and submit persuasive grant applications, clearly articulating the goals, impact, and needs of Reality AI Lab’s projects. Collaborate with project leaders to gather necessary information for strong proposals.
- Financial Management and Compliance: Oversee the allocation of funds, ensuring compliance with budgetary requirements and funding stipulations. Maintain accurate financial records and prepare transparent reports for funders.
- Donor and Sponsor Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding organizations, keeping them informed on project progress and impact to reinforce ongoing support.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track the progress of funded projects, ensuring milestones are met and objectives achieved. Prepare and submit timely reports to funders, detailing outcomes, challenges, and next steps.
Requirements
- Experience in Grant Writing and Fundraising: Proven experience in securing grants and managing funding, ideally within open-source, non-profit, or education-focused organizations.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey project goals, needs, and impact to potential funders.
- Financial and Organizational Skills: Proficiency in budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
- Relationship-Building Abilities: Skilled in establishing and nurturing relationships with funders, sponsors, and community stakeholders.
- Understanding of Open-Source Ecosystems: Familiarity with the challenges and dynamics of open-source projects, with a passion for supporting community-driven initiatives.

- Commitment: Part-time, unpaid open-source contribution role with flexible scheduling.
- Duration: 1-6 months, remote work setup.
