Role Overview
We are seeking a Cybersecurity Manager to lead and implement security strategies, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our open-source AI tools. This role involves proactive vulnerability management, setting security standards, and fostering a security-conscious culture within our contributor community. This position is ideal for someone with experience in cybersecurity, risk management, or security compliance, who is passionate about protecting open-source systems and can navigate the unique security challenges of open collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Strategy Development: Design and implement comprehensive security policies and strategies tailored to open-source project needs, balancing transparency with robust protection.
- Vulnerability Management: Identify, assess, and prioritize vulnerabilities within the codebase, working with contributors to promptly address security issues.
- Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices, promoting a culture of security awareness and consistent adherence to security guidelines.
- Incident Response Coordination: Develop and lead incident response protocols to detect, manage, and recover from security breaches, minimizing disruption and preventing future incidents.
- Community Engagement and Education: Collaborate with developers, maintainers, and users to promote secure coding practices, providing guidance on mitigating common security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Transparent Security Communication: Maintain open communication with the community on security issues, updates, and practices, ensuring transparency while safeguarding sensitive information.
Requirements
- Experience in Cybersecurity or Risk Management: Background in cybersecurity, risk management, or a related field, ideally with experience in open-source or collaborative projects.
- Proficiency in Security Tools and Protocols: Familiarity with security tools (e.g., Wazuh, Faraday, or similar platforms) and best practices for vulnerability management, compliance, and incident response.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong skills in identifying potential risks, conducting security assessments, and implementing proactive solutions to protect the project and users.
- Collaborative Communication Skills: Ability to work effectively with a diverse, often volunteer-driven community, balancing transparency with security protocols.
- Commitment to Open-Source Values and Security: Understanding of the unique security challenges of open-source environments, with a passion for protecting and strengthening community-driven projects.
