Role Overview
We are seeking a Learning and Development (L&D) Manager to design, implement, and manage learning initiatives that empower contributors and enhance skill development within our open-source community. In this role, you’ll focus on building accessible training resources, facilitating skill-sharing, and ensuring contributors have the knowledge and support they need to make impactful contributions. This role is ideal for someone experienced in learning and development who is passionate about open-source education and community-driven learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning Strategy Development: Create a learning roadmap tailored to the needs of open-source contributors, focusing on skill-building and knowledge-sharing initiatives that align with Reality AI Lab's goals.
- Design and Implement Training Programs: Develop and implement training resources, including workshops, e-learning modules, and mentorship programs that support contributors at various skill levels.
- Evaluate Program Effectiveness: Gather feedback and track participation in learning programs, using metrics to assess program success and adjust strategies as needed to enhance engagement.
- Community Collaboration: Work closely with project maintainers, community members, and other stakeholders to identify skill gaps, prioritize learning needs, and ensure training materials align with project objectives.
- Foster Knowledge Sharing: Encourage and facilitate knowledge-sharing among contributors, establishing channels (such as webinars or discussion forums) for open collaboration and continuous learning.
- Documentation and Resource Management: Maintain and organize training materials, best practice guides, and onboarding resources to ensure easy access and continuity within the open-source community.
Requirements
- Experience in Learning and Development: Background in L&D, training, or a similar role, ideally within a volunteer-driven, educational, or open-source setting.
- Strong Communication and Facilitation Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, engage a diverse community, and facilitate interactive training sessions.
- Project Management Abilities: Proficiency in organizing and managing multiple learning initiatives, with experience in using learning management systems (LMS) or other training tools.
- Community Engagement: Familiarity with open-source community dynamics and experience supporting volunteer-driven learning and development.
- Adaptability and Resourcefulness: Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to tailor learning initiatives to the unique needs of an open-source community.
- Passion for Open-Source and Education: A commitment to fostering growth and learning within the open-source ecosystem.
Additional Information
- Commitment: Part-time, unpaid open-source contribution role with flexible scheduling.
- Duration: 1-6 months, remote work setup.
