Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Product Management Mentor to guide and support contributors in learning and applying product management principles within the open-source environment. As a mentor, you will work with contributors to enhance their understanding of product strategy, feature prioritization, user-centered design, and cross-functional collaboration. This position is ideal for an experienced product manager with a passion for teaching and supporting others in their product management journey, especially in a collaborative, community-driven setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Strategy and Vision Guidance: Help contributors understand and align with Reality AI Lab's mission and product vision, guiding them in defining user-centered strategies and goals for our AI-driven products.
• Feature Prioritization and Roadmap Planning: Teach contributors how to prioritize features, develop roadmaps, and set timelines, balancing project goals with available resources and user feedback.
• User Research and Market Analysis Support: Support contributors in conducting user research and analyzing market needs, helping them make data-driven decisions that enhance product value and relevance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coach contributors on collaborating effectively with developers, designers, and other teams, teaching best practices for communication, feedback, and teamwork.
• Continuous Improvement and Feedback: Provide constructive feedback on contributors’ work, review project proposals, and help refine product management skills through real-world projects.
• Mentorship and Skill Development: Create an open, supportive environment where contributors feel encouraged to learn, ask questions, and gain confidence in their product management abilities.

Requirements

• Experience in Product Management: 5+ years of experience in product management, ideally with experience in AI, education technology, or open-source environments.
• Strong Mentorship and Communication Skills: Ability to explain product management concepts clearly, provide constructive feedback, and foster a supportive learning atmosphere.
• Proficiency in Product Management Tools and Techniques: Familiarity with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, or Asana) and techniques for roadmap planning, user research, and market analysis.
• User-Centered Approach: Passionate about teaching user-centered design and research, guiding contributors in making decisions that prioritize user needs.
• Collaborative Mindset: Skilled in working with diverse teams and fostering collaboration among contributors, designers, and developers.
• Commitment to Open-Source Values: Understanding of the open-source culture, with an emphasis on transparency, collaboration, and inclusivity in product development.

• Variable Hourly Pay: Compensation will be based on the mentor’s availability and the number of hours dedicated per month.
